What is Mechanical Engineering?
Mechanical Engineering applies scientific principles for the design and manufacturing of motorized systems. Some of the key concepts in this type of engineering include a core of kinematics, materials science, strength of materials, machine design, and thermodynamics.
Mechanical engineers design and develop everything you think of as a machine, that is mechanical or that produces power. From heart-lung machines, to high performance car engines, jet planes, robotics and nuclear submarines. The field has continually evolved to incorporate advancements in technology, and mechanical engineers today are pursuing developments in such fields as micro electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), composites, robotics and nanotechnology.
